Columbus United Football Club Welcomes Brett Teach as Head Coach
Columbus United Football Club proudly announces the appointment of Brett Teach as the inaugural Head Coach, marking a pivotal moment in the club's history as it gears up for its debut season in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL).
Prior to beginning his coaching career, Teach was a four-year starter and All- American at King University where he graduated in 1986. Brett is a member of King University Athletic Hall of Fame and, as a coach, he is a member of the Auburn University Montgomery Hall of Fame. Coach Teach brings 30+ years of college coaching experience across all levels. He is the current head coach of the Mount Saint Mary’s men’s program, an NCAA Division I program in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Prior to joining Mount Saint Mary’s, Teach was the assistant head coach of the VCU Rams. Coach Teach previously was the head coach at Tusculum University, Auburn University Montgomery, Georgian State University, Oglethorpe University, LaGrange College and Erskine College where he has amassed 268 victories and eight Coach of the Year honors including the NSCAA/Adidas NAIA National Coach of the Year Award. His teams have appeared in the NCAA Division I Tournament, NCAA Division II Tournament Elite Eight, and four NAIA national finals, five NAIA semifinals and eight NAIA quarterfinals. Coach Teach has had seven players selected in the MLS SuperDraft with three playing in the MLS.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the new chapter, Coach Brett Teach remarked, "I am very excited to join Columbus United and the Columbus, GA community as we initiate our new NPSL team! I have loved the Columbus community for many years and have always been impressed with the talent and soccer community here! I have coached many players from Columbus and cannot wait to join the community this summer and renew old friendships and make many more new ones!"
